New appointment: Christine Chow becomes CEO of Tracker Group

Christine Chow has been appointed as the CEO of The Tracker Group, a leading organisation that comprises Carbon Tracker and Planet Tracker. This appointment comes following the departure of Jon Grayson, the CEO of Carbon Tracker, and Robin Millington, the CEO of Planet Tracker, in October.

With over 25 years of experience in investment management, research, and consulting, Chow brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. Her focus has been on technology, governance, and sustainability, making her an ideal fit for The Tracker Group. Chow holds a PhD in responsible investment, and her thesis was short-listed for a United Nations award for industry relevance and academic excellence.

Chow has held various prestigious roles before joining The Tracker Group. She served as a board member of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), an organisation responsible for assets under management of around $77trn. She is also an honorary adviser to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC) in Hong Kong and the Convenor of the AFRC Sustainability and Climate Action Task Force. Additionally, she has held global executive leadership roles at UBS, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Schroders, and Federated Hermes.

In her statement on her appointment, Chow expressed her enthusiasm for driving the next phase of development at The Tracker Group. She stated, "Carbon Tracker and Planet Tracker are changemakers and are well respected for producing insightful and actionable research on climate change and nature."

The Tracker Group consists of Carbon Tracker, an independent financial think tank that was founded to accelerate investor and regulatory support for the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, and Planet Tracker, an independent financial think tank. With Chow at the helm, both organisations are now under a single leadership team.

Chow's appointment aims to enable investors and policymakers to take action in addressing climate change and nature loss. As the ICGN is led by investors, her experience and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the organisation's mission.

In addition to her role at The Tracker Group, Chow is an Emeritus Governor of the London School of Economics and an Adjunct Professor in Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where she developed a graduate course on social entrepreneurship and impact investing.

With Chow's appointment, The Tracker Group is poised for a promising future as it continues its mission to provide insightful and actionable research on climate change and nature.
