Nestle Vietnam strengthens safety measures to enhance recycling industry cleanliness
Nestlé Vietnam Launches Training Program for Workplace Safety and Hygiene in Recycling Sector
Nestlé Vietnam has implemented a training program focused on occupational safety and hygiene in waste collection and recycling, specifically targeting its recycling industry partners, including many small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This program is part of Nestlé’s broader commitment to building a sustainable, responsible supply chain aligned with community development and environmental compliance goals.
The training program aims to help businesses align with international standards and boost compliance with the Party Central Committee’s Resolution 68/NQ-TW on innovation and sustainable development. Key features of Nestlé’s initiatives for workplace safety and hygiene in the recycling sector include:
- Providing knowledge and practical tools to improve occupational safety and hygiene practices among recycling businesses, especially SMEs.
- Sharing updated legal regulations and international requirements concerning environmental compliance and labor rights to help businesses understand corporate responsibility and build a safe and compliant work culture.
- Strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs by fostering collaboration and support in line with Vietnam’s Resolution 68/NQ-TW on innovation and sustainable development.
- Protecting workers’ health, minimizing occupational accident risks, and ensuring the rights and wellbeing of laborers in the supply chain.
- Emphasizing corporate leadership’s role in creating a safe, responsible working environment to improve job quality and further green circular economy efforts.
- Aligning with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and Nestlé’s philosophy of “Creating Shared Value” aimed at long-term, human-centered community development.
The training session underscored the pivotal role of corporate leadership in creating a culture of responsibility, minimising risks, and improving job quality in the recycling sector. Khuất Quang Hưng, Deputy General Director in charge of External Relations and Communications at Nestlé Việt Nam, opened the event and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to responsible and ethical business practices.
Representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Việt Nam shared lessons learned from a responsible sourcing initiative in two plastic recycling value chains. The UNDP initiative aims to apply standards that improve working conditions and livelihoods, while recognizing the contributions of informal workers in the waste sector.
Luu Thi Kim Lieu, Human Resources Director at Duy Tan Recycling, praised the program’s practical value and its potential to help review and strengthen internal procedures for compliance with regulations and creating a safer working environment. Duy Tan Recycling hopes Nestlé Việt Nam and its partners will continue organizing similar programs in the future, contributing to a greener and more inclusive circular economy.
In the context of ESG being a key driver of sustainable growth, businesses are paying greater attention to social responsibility and governance, not just environmental aspects. The training program is a testament to Nestlé Việt Nam’s dedication to promoting a sustainable and responsible circular economy in Vietnam.
