According to our exclusive intel, Solange Chamberlain, a seasoned banker with a knack for transformation, has been tapped to lead NatWest's retail banking division. Following the departure of David Lindberg, Chamberlain will assume her duties on July 1st, subject to regulatory approval.

Known for her strategic thinking and operational prowess, Chamberlain's career at NatWest spans back to 2019, where she began as the COO of the Commercial Bank, later taking on broader responsibilities as she transitioned into the role of Group Director of Strategic Development.

With more than 18 million customers across the UK, NatWest falls among the big four retail banks, joining Barclays, HSBC, and Lloyds Banking Group in the competitive market. Chamberlain's appointment couldn't come at a better time as the bank has recently added an additional 1 million customers with the acquisition of Sainsbury's Bank.

Speaking on the appointment, Group CEO Paul Thwaite praises Chamberlain's "deep understanding of our customers, sharp strategic thinking, and track record in driving transformation." This, he believes, will set NatWest on the path to growth and success in a customer-centric market.

In early 2008, the UK Treasury bailed out the then Royal Bank of Scotland with an incredible £45.5bn in taxpayers' funds, later fully exiting its shareholding on Monday. With shares in the bank currently trading at around 524.6p, NatWest boasts a market value of over £42bn.
