Fueling Up Smarter: A Money-Saving Guide Based on ADAC Analysis

Morning fuel prices inflate nearly double compared to evening rates.

Staying on top of fuel prices is crucial for us drivers, and the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) has got our backs! According to their recent analysis, filling up your tank in the morning could cost you almost double compared to filling up in the evening. In May, the price difference between the highest and lowest points of an average day was staggering – 12.5 cents for Super E10 and 13.3 cents for diesel, compared to 6.4 cents for gasoline and 7.3 cents for diesel last year.

The big question – what's the best time to gas up? Let's break it down, ADAC-style:

  1. The Graveyard Shift: It turns out, the most expensive time to refuel is shortly after 7:00 AM. After this hour, fuel prices slowly decrease in seven waves until around 23:00. Interestingly, prices then start to tick up again slightly and stay above the daily average throughout the night, reaching a peak again right around 7:00 AM.
  2. Off-Peak Times: If you're looking to save some cash, your best bet is to fill up during the magic hours between 19:00 and 20:00. Prices are also particularly affordable between 17:00 and 18:00 and between 21:00 and 22:00.

Smart drivers can save an average of over six euros on a 50-liter tank fill-up just by timing their fueling right. And, let's not forget – opting for a relatively cheap gas station can help save even more moolah!

So there you have it – with a bit of strategy and these nifty tips from the experts at ADAC, you can keep more of your hard-earned cash in your pocket. Happy savings, drivers!
