Morgan Murphy Media Announces Leadership Promotions
Morgan Murphy Media, a family-owned media company, has announced a strategic leadership reorganization, effective immediately in August 2025. The changes come as part of a drive to position the company for future challenges and opportunities.
At the helm of the new appointments is Chris Cornelius, who has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Cornelius joined Morgan Murphy Media in 2014 as Vice President of Business Development and brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as President and COO of Barrington Broadcasting. He will now oversee operational strategy, revenue growth, and network partnerships.
Colin Benedict, who has been the Vice President of News for the past seven years, has been promoted to the role of Chief Innovation Officer (CIO). Benedict, who has been with Morgan Murphy Media since 1988, will focus on cross-department innovation initiatives, growth strategies, and will continue to oversee news and marketing operations.
Neal Oberg, who has been with the company since 1997, has been promoted to the role of Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Oberg, who was most recently Vice President of Digital, will lead the company’s digital strategy aimed at audience and revenue growth across online platforms.
In a statement, Morgan Murphy President and CEO Brian Burns commented on the promotions, saying they recognize exceptional contributions and are an investment in proven leaders who understand Morgan Murphy Media’s mission and values. The promotions are aimed at driving the company forward while maintaining a commitment to serving local communities.
Morgan Murphy Media operates television and radio stations, a magazine, websites, apps, and a digital marketing agency across nine locations. Each of the promoted individuals brings unique expertise to the company, ensuring a strong foundation for growth and innovation.
