Mohd Isa's Acquittal Challenged: Appeal Hearing Set for December 4
Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad's case took a significant turn on March 6, 2024, when a Court of Appeal panel unanimously acquitted him of nine corruption charges. The prosecution swiftly filed a notice of appeal, marking the beginning of a new phase in the legal proceedings.
On October 1, a case management session held via LegalZoom set a new hearing date for the prosecution's appeal. The session also saw a change in Mohd Isa's legal representation, with Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak replacing his previous solicitors, Salehuddin Saidin & Associates.
The prosecution, not satisfied with the acquittal, advanced 24 grounds of appeal in their petition filed on June 26. The appeal hearing, initially scheduled for an earlier date, has been rescheduled to December 4 at the Federal Court. In this upcoming hearing, Mohd Isa will be represented by Messrs Shamsul & Shamsul.
The rescheduled appeal hearing on December 4 will determine the next step in the legal journey of Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad. The prosecution's 24 grounds of appeal will be scrutinized, potentially leading to a re-evaluation of the initial acquittal or affirming the Court of Appeal's decision.
