Mitsubishi Power Boosts Jordan's Power Efficiency with Two Major Contracts

Mitsubishi Power is transforming Jordan's power landscape. The company is adding steam cycles to existing plants, boosting efficiency and reducing emissions. Two contracts, worth nearly 75 million euros, have been signed with Metka S.A. for these projects.

The first project involves the delivery of a GT13E2 gas turbine and associated equipment for a new power plant in Jordan. This turbine is renowned in the Middle East and North Africa for its ability to operate in severe climatic conditions and is widely used in the region.

The second project focuses on the existing Samra III simple-cycle gas power plant. Mitsubishi Power will convert it into a combined-cycle power plant for Samra Electric Power Generating Company. This involves adding a steam cycle to increase the plant's capacity by 143 MW. The company will handle the design, delivery, and supervision of the installation of the turbine, generators, and auxiliary equipment in an accelerated mode, with commercial operation scheduled for 2015.

These projects demonstrate Mitsubishi Power's commitment to enhancing Jordan's power infrastructure. By converting simple-cycle plants to combined-cycle and delivering advanced turbines, the company is boosting efficiency and reducing emissions, all while respecting the region's challenging climatic conditions.
