Mazda elevates a Japanese executive to the role of Chief Financial Officer for North America
Mazda Announces New CFO for North American Operations
In a recent press release, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) announced the appointment of Tatsuro Omura as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective from August 30. Tatsuro Omura succeeds Takeshi Nishiki, who has held the position since October 30, 2020.
Tatsuro Omura brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having held various finance positions at Mazda Motor Europe in Germany and within Mazda Motor Corp. in Hiroshima, Japan. Most notably, he previously served as the general manager of the business structure strategy department at Mazda Motor Corp.
The press release cited Omura's extensive experience and deep understanding of Mazda's global financial landscape as reasons for his appointment. His role will be instrumental in steering the company's financial strategy and operations in the U.S., including production footprint, electrification and hybridization, product planning, and regulatory compliance.
In addition to his financial responsibilities, Omura will oversee production developments, expand Mazda Financial Services offerings, and drive efforts to increase Mazda's market share. Notably, Mazda's U.S. market share increased to 3.1% in Q1, the highest since 1990, and the company also reported a 7% growth in sales in the U.S. market during the same quarter.
The press release did not provide details about Takeshi Nishiki's new role within the company. However, it is worth noting that Nishiki was previously the CFO of Mazda's North American division and was promoted to Executive Vice President (EVP) in November.
Despite the lack of information about Omura's previous experience in the U.S. before this appointment, it is clear that he is well-equipped to lead Mazda North American Operations in its continued growth and success. There are no search results providing information about Omura's latest position within Mazda Motor Corp. in Hiroshima, Japan.
As Mazda navigates the ever-evolving automotive landscape, the appointment of Tatsuro Omura as CFO is a strategic move that will undoubtedly contribute to the company's continued growth and success in the U.S. market.
