In a significant move for the luxury fashion industry, Meryll Rogge, a renowned Belgian designer, has been appointed as the new Creative Director of Marni. Rogge, who hails from Ghent, brings a wealth of experience to the Italian brand, having worked at Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten before launching her own eponymous label.

Rogge's professional journey began in New York, where she spent seven years as a womenswear designer at Marc Jacobs. Afterward, she returned to Belgium to become Head of Women’s Design at Dries Van Noten, a position she held for four years. During her tenure, she also developed the brand’s beauty line until 2025.

In 2020, Rogge launched her own label, Meryll Rogge. Her designs, characterised by boldness, reconstruction, and vibrant colour usage, quickly gained attention. Pieces from her collection, such as her boxer shorts, became popular, with celebrities like Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and Chloë Sevigny wearing them.

Rogge's creative talents were further recognised when she won the Emerging Talent of the Year award at the Belgian Fashion Awards in 2021. In 2024, she became the first woman to be awarded Designer of the Year there. The following year, she received the Grand Prix at the ANDAM Fashion Awards, solidifying her reputation in the industry.

Marni's CEO, Stefano Rosso, expressed delight at Rogge's appointment. This move is expected to offer a contemporary vision that embraces the brand globally and across all its dimensions. Rogge's vision and expertise are expected to play a significant role in shaping Marni's future.

The appointment of Rogge, one of the few female creative directors in luxury fashion today, maintains consistency with Marni's free-spirited identity that features bold hues and wild textures. This change comes after Glenn Martens's couture debut at Maison Margiela received wide acclaim.

Meanwhile, Simone Bellotti is teasing a forthcoming overhaul at Jil Sander. A vibey short film has been set in Hamburg for Bellotti's project.

Marni was founded by Consuelo Castiglioni in 1994, making it a woman-led brand from its inception. This appointment continues the brand's commitment to female leadership in the fashion industry.
