M&G hires new leader for Emerging Markets Debt department
In a significant move, M&G, a leading investment management firm with a £138 billion Fixed Income business, has appointed Charles de Quinsonas as the Head of Emerging Markets Debt (EMD). De Quinsonas, a seasoned investment professional with over 15 years of experience in EMD, brings a notable track record in managing blended, sovereign, and corporate bond funds to his new role.
De Quinsonas, who joined M&G in May 2014, has been with the company for over six years, initially as an emerging market corporate bond specialist. Prior to his recent promotion, he co-managed several emerging market bond funds, including the M&G Emerging Market Bond and M&G (Lux) Emerging Markets funds.
The appointment comes as Claudia Calich, a pioneer in M&G's EMD capability, retires after more than three decades of investment experience. Calich, who joined M&G in 2013, played a pivotal role in establishing the company's EMD platform, which has grown into a $5 billion platform. Calich has been deeply dedicated to nurturing and mentoring the next generation of investment talent at M&G.
De Quinsonas succeeds Calich and aims to continue leading the team in delivering superior investment performance to clients, leveraging his experience in high-yield credit and fundamental credit analysis. He will manage Local and Hard Currency Sovereign Debt strategies at M&G.
The M&G Fixed Income business is committed to succession planning for navigating the dynamic part of the fixed income universe. Andy Chorlton, Chief Investment Officer of M&G's Fixed Income business, acknowledged Calich's immense contribution to the industry.
Meanwhile, Carlos Carranza, a dedicated Latin America specialist with over 20 years of investment experience, has been appointed as a Senior Emerging Markets Debt Fund Manager at M&G. Carranza began his career as an Emerging Market Debt Analyst at JP Morgan in 2005 and joins M&G in October from Allianz Global Investors.
The M&G Fixed Income business has a team of EMD specialists supporting its operations. The team, under the leadership of De Quinsonas and Carranza, will continue to manage the company's blended, sovereign, and corporate EM bond funds.
