After an extraordinary 42-year journey, Guy Sellers, the long-serving chairman of Mediaplus UK, is set to retire from the company he has helped build and transform. Sellers joined Mediaplus UK, then known as Total Media Group, in 1983 as one of only three employees.
Over the decades, Sellers rose through the ranks, demonstrating exceptional leadership and guiding the company's growth substantially. In 2007, he was named a managing director, becoming CEO in 2009 and group CEO in 2022. In 2024, after the acquisition of Total Media Group by Serviceplan Group's Mediaplus, he was appointed group chair.
During his tenure, Sellers earned marketing and branding acclaim, steering the company from a small team into a leading UK media agency. Notable achievements include the "Get a Ticket, Not a Criminal Record" campaign for the London Underground, which addressed fare evasion with public messaging.
Sellers' leadership extended beyond business growth, as he established and maintained long-term client partnerships with prominent brands such as Epson, Macmillan Publishers, Hiscox, MG Motors, E.ON, and Tony's Chocolonely. His collaborative work with clients and colleagues helped foster a strong company culture that is still celebrated today.
As Mediaplus UK's group CEO, Thomas Laranjo will succeed Sellers upon his retirement in 2025. The combined company, rebranded as Mediaplus UK earlier this year, is poised for continued success, building on the strong foundation laid by Sellers.
