Local Small Business Grants Re-introduced by Optimum Business and LIA Foundation
The L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants, funded by Optimum Business and the LIA Foundation, are being relaunched to support small businesses in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. This year, the program is expanding its outreach efforts by partnering with the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (LIHCC) and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce (LIAACC).
The 2025 L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants are considered a critical investment in the future of small businesses, particularly Hispanic-owned and African American-owned ones. Luis Vazquez, President of the LIHCC, emphasized the ongoing challenges faced by Hispanic-owned businesses, while Phil Andrews, President of the LIAACC, highlighted the broader economic impact of the program.
Matt Cohen, President & CEO of the Long Island Association, stated that the program aims to empower entrepreneurs, create jobs, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents on Long Island. Optimum Business, the founding partner of the L.O.C.A.L. grants, continues to invest in initiatives like this, underscoring its commitment to connecting customers to what matters most.
The program will award $5,000 grants to 40 selected small businesses, with two grand prize grants of $25,000, one each for a business in Nassau and Suffolk County. As an added benefit, the LIA will offer a six-month complimentary membership to applicants and a one-year membership to grant recipients who are new to the organization, further supporting their business development and networking opportunities.
Andrew Rainone, Senior Vice President of National Sales at Optimum, stated that the program's commitment goes beyond financial support, aiming to foster an environment where these businesses can thrive and providing connectivity services and resources to succeed in today's digital world. Grant recipients will be announced later this year, with Optimum Business hosting recognition events this summer, joined by local officials and community partners.

Small Business Grants and the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has so far awarded $250,000 in grants to 50 small businesses.
The L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants programme is a significant step towards investing directly in the local economy by helping small businesses grow and thrive. It is a testament to the commitment of Optimum Business, the Long Island Association, and the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to supporting the growth and success of small businesses on Long Island.
