This picture is clicked inside the hotel and in front, we see a table on which white color cloth is placed. On table, we see plates, fork, spoon, glass, branches of tree. Around the table, we see chairs and behind that we see the other table which is like green in color and behind that, we see a man wearing black blazer. Next to him, we see the girl standing and behind them, we see door on which exit is written on it and behind that door, we see two men standing.

Krefeld Customs Office Inspects Hospitality Industry for Minimum Wage Compliance

On September 19, 2025, the Krefeld Customs Office, backed by local authorities, conducted surprise inspections in the hotel and catering industry. This sector, one of the largest and most employment-intensive, is subject to the Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG). The inspections aimed to ensure compliance with the new general minimum wage of €12.82 per hour, enforce social security obligations, and detect illegal employment and improper social security benefits.

A total of 60 inspectors checked 156 employees across various establishments. They discovered 12 individuals illegally present in the country. The inspections, which will be followed by extensive checks of employee data against companies' payroll and financial records, are part of a broader effort to uphold labour laws and protect workers' rights in the hospitality industry. Since January 1, 2025, the general minimum wage has been €12.82 per hour, a significant increase from previous years.

The Krefeld Customs Office's inspections serve as a reminder of the importance of compliance with minimum wage laws and social security obligations. The follow-up inspections will ensure that all employees are correctly paid and that no one is illegally employed or improperly receiving social security benefits. The hospitality industry, being a significant employer, must adhere to these regulations to maintain a fair and safe work environment.
