Komi Residents Warned of Growing Exchange Scam
Residents of Syktyvkar and the Republic of Komi are warned about a growing scam promising easy money on the exchange. A local resident lost over 440,000 rubles, with another victim losing 75,000 rubles. Criminal cases have been opened under suspicion of fraud.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Komi has issued a warning about scammers targeting residents through social networks and messengers. They lure victims with promises of high income quickly. In one such case, a Syktyvkar resident installed apps on his phone, including one for screen sharing, at the scammer's request. He managed to withdraw only 1,600 rubles before realizing the scam and reporting it to the police.
Criminal cases have been opened under the suspicion of fraud, as outlined in Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Another resident of the Republic of Komi also fell victim to the same scam, losing 75,000 rubles.
Authorities urge caution when dealing with unsolicited offers of easy money, especially those coming through social networks and messengers. If you suspect a scam, do not hesitate to report it to the police. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Komi is actively investigating these cases to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further losses.
