Knudel Express Train Service to Prague Remains Partially Intact

The Czech Railways (České dráhy) has announced that starting from July 26, the EuroCity trains on the Prague-Berlin route will be upgraded to Comfort-Jet trains. This change will bring faster travel times, increased capacity, and improved comfort for passengers.

The Comfort-Jet trains can accommodate around 100 more passengers and can reach speeds of up to 230 km/h, compared to the maximum 200 km/h of the old trains. The new trains will serve the EuroCity trains EC 378 and EC 379, which depart from Prague Main Station at 10:28 and arrive in Berlin at 14:43, and operate in the reverse direction from Berlin to Prague on train EC 379 and EC 378 respectively.

However, the familiar service of the "Knödel Express" will continue on some trains. The head of Czech Railways, Michal Krapinec, hinted at the continuation of this service, which offers traditional Czech cuisine on board. The original dining cars will continue to operate on three train pairs: EC 378, EC 170, and EC 258.

The era of the "Knödel Express" train service between Prague and Berlin is set to end, but the popular traditional dining cars will not be scrapped. Instead, they will be used on Czech domestic connections in the future, partially retained on the route to Prague, where some trains will still offer the popular dining cars with freshly cooked food. The exact specific domestic routes apart from the Prague connection are not detailed in the available information.

It is worth noting that the departure times for the EuroCity trains from Prague to Berlin in the reverse direction are not specified in the press release. The departure times for the EuroCity trains from Berlin to Prague are also not detailed. The EuroCity connection EC 172/173 Hungaria, composed of Hungarian carriages, will also continue to operate.

EC 170 departs from Prague Main Station at 16:28, arrives in Berlin at 20:43, and operates in the reverse direction from Berlin to Prague on train EC 171. EC 258 departs from Prague Main Station at 20:28, arrives in Berlin at 00:57, and operates in the reverse direction from Berlin to Prague on train EC 259.

The new Comfort-Jet trains also offer more space for bicycles, making them an attractive option for passengers who enjoy cycling. The switch to Comfort-Jet trains is expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers on the Prague-Berlin route.

The new Comfort-Jet trains, with increased capacity and faster speeds, are not only transforming the Prague-Berlin route but also set to redefine public-transit in the automotive and finance industries. With an added 100 seats, improved comfort, and the ability to reach up to 230 km/h, these trains signify a significant leap in transportation efficiency. Furthermore, the continuation of the "Knödel Express" service on some trains, offering traditional Czech cuisine, adds a unique touch to the finance-backed enhancements in the industry.
