Khánh Hòa Province Kicks Off Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project

The province is readying land and resettling 1,153 households for the project. It's set to significantly boost power generation and improve living conditions for residents.

Khánh Hòa Province Kicks Off Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project

Khánh Hòa Province has initiated preparations for the Ninh Thuận nuclear power project. The province has established a committee and teams to survey land, population, and infrastructure in the project areas. The estimated cost for land clearance and resettlement is VNĐ12,392 billion (over US$469 million).

The project, comprising two nuclear plants - Ninh Thuận 1 and 2 - will be built in Phước Dinh and Vĩnh Hải communes respectively, occupying a total of over 1,130 hectares and affecting 1,153 households with 5,229 residents. The Government has allocated VNĐ3,236 billion ($122.5 million) so far for the project, which aims to generate over 4,000MW of power.

The province is committed to issuing detailed land price approvals by October and completing verification and public notices in both communes by the fourth quarter. It aims to have the land ready for the two nuclear plants by December 31, 2025. Resettlement areas will be fully equipped with schools, health stations, and cultural facilities, ensuring residents enjoy improved living conditions.

The Ninh Thuận nuclear power project, with an estimated cost of VNĐ12,392 billion, is expected to significantly boost the province's power generation capacity. With careful planning and commitment to resettlement support, Khánh Hòa Province is preparing for the project's successful implementation by the end of 2025.
