Kazakhstan's Energy and Petrochemical Sectors Boom Under PM Bektenov

Kazakhstan is witnessing significant developments in its energy and petrochemical sectors. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has overseen key projects that are transforming the country's industrial landscape.

In the gas processing industry, KazGPP in Zhanaozen, the Kashagan gas processing complex, and the Tengiz gas separation complex are all underway. The petrochemical sector is also booming with projects to produce butadiene and carbamide. A polypropylene plant with a 500,000-ton capacity has been commissioned, set to boost local production.

The Shymkent Oil Refinery is expanding its capacity to 12 million tons, a move that will enhance the country's refining capabilities. Looking ahead, six petrochemical projects worth over $15 billion are planned to launch by 2030. These include a 1.25-million-ton polyethylene project, which will make Kazakhstan Central Asia's largest polymer producer.

In the power sector, Kazakhstan is constructing three modern coal-fired thermal power plants (CHPs) with a total capacity of 1 GW. The country is also advancing renewable energy projects totaling over 4 GW in collaboration with international partners. The second line of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline is set to accelerate gasification, opening doors to new industrial projects.

These projects, driven by technological progress, are expected to increase output, create jobs, and diversify Kazakhstan's economy. The country's future in the energy and petrochemical sectors looks promising under the leadership of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
