Joint Operation on B1 Nets 15 Offenses, 2 Drug-Driving Suspects

A joint traffic control operation was carried out on Bundesstraße 1 on September 25, 2025, focusing on heavy goods and freight traffic. The event aimed to enhance road safety and enforce compliance with legal regulations. However, the coordinating body remains unknown.

The control, held at the Neustaedter Bucht rest area heading towards Fehmarn, inspected 35 vehicles in total. This included 27 trucks and 8 passenger cars. The operation uncovered 15 offenses, with 9 violations of the Driver Hours Regulation being the most common. Two drivers were suspected of driving under the influence of drugs - one with cocaine and the other with THC. Administrative offense proceedings were initiated against these two drivers.

The joint control was a collaborative effort involving the police highway and district office Scharbeutz, the Joint Investigation Group Schengen South, and the large-scale X-ray technology of the customs office in Lübeck. Authorities aim to continue such operations in the future to maintain road safety and strict enforcement of regulations in freight traffic.
