IONITY Launches First High-Power EV Charging Hub in Northern Ireland

IONITY has inaugurated its first high-power electric vehicle charging site in Northern Ireland. The new hub, located at the Toome highway service station, was opened with support from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) Networks. Andreas Atkins, IONITY's UK and Ireland National Director, commented on the occasion.

The new charging hub features six 350-kilowatt points, offering a significant boost to Northern Ireland's electric vehicle infrastructure. IONITY plans to expand its network based on demand, with another site currently under construction at the Kennedy Centre in Belfast.

Zapmap users can now view real-time availability and status information for IONITY charging points. This will help electric vehicle drivers plan their journeys more effectively. Ian Craig from NIE Networks expressed support for the transition to greener energy, highlighting the importance of such initiatives.

IONITY's new charging hub in Toome marks a milestone in Northern Ireland's electric vehicle charging network. With plans to add more stations based on demand, the region is poised for growth in electric vehicle usage. The support from NIE Networks and real-time charging point information on Zapmap further enhance the appeal of electric vehicles for local drivers.
