## Introducing the Riga Single Ticket: A Step Towards Convenient and Sustainable Public Transport

Starting 15 July, Riga residents and visitors will have a new option for navigating the city's public transportation system: the Riga Single Ticket. This innovative initiative, running as a one-year pilot project, aims to make public transport more accessible, convenient, and competitive compared to private cars, while also promoting a sustainable commuting system.

### Key Features and Benefits

The Riga Single Ticket offers a combination of train and city bus, tram, or trolleybus journeys for a flat rate of €2. This ticket includes a train day ticket for Zone A and a 90-minute ticket for any of the listed modes of transport. Passengers can purchase multiple tickets for the same day and plan their journeys up to nine days in advance.

By offering a cost-effective solution for combining transport options, the Riga Single Ticket saves passengers €1 per journey compared to buying separate tickets for each mode of transport. The ticket is available only in digital format on the Vivi Latvija mobile app and the vivi.lv website, ensuring a seamless and efficient purchasing experience.

The Riga Single Ticket also facilitates easy and understandable transfers between different modes of transport, making travel in the city more convenient for all users.

### Evaluation and Future Prospects

During the pilot project, the performance, user experience, and necessary improvements of the Riga Single Ticket system will be evaluated. After the evaluation period, a decision on a possible permanent introduction of the ticket will be made. If successful and user-friendly, the Riga Single Ticket could become a permanent fixture in the city's public transportation system, marking a significant step towards an integrated, environmentally friendly, and sustainable commuting system in Riga.

### The Voice of Rīgas Satiksme

Džineta Innusa, Chairwoman of the Board of Rīgas Satiksme, expressed her enthusiasm for the new single ticket, stating, "The introduction of the Riga Single Ticket is the first step towards more convenient travel by public transport." She believes this initiative will pave the way for further improvements in public transportation services in the city.

In conclusion, the Riga Single Ticket represents an exciting development for Riga's public transportation system. By offering a cost-effective, convenient, and environmentally friendly solution for commuting, the ticket is set to make a positive impact on the city's residents and visitors alike. Stay tuned for updates on the pilot project's progress and the potential for a permanent introduction of the Riga Single Ticket.
