Instructions on the American Express Entertainment and Streaming Credit Benefit

The Platinum Card® from American Express offers a unique perk for entertainment enthusiasts - a monthly $25 digital entertainment credit. This credit can help you save on your favourite streaming services and digital media subscriptions.

To enrol in the AmEx digital entertainment credit, log in to your American Express account and navigate to the $300 digital entertainment credit page. It's important to note that this credit is not an actual $300 annual credit, but up to $25 in statement credits each calendar month.

One way to make the most of this credit is by pairing it with a Walmart+ membership. If ads aren't an issue, you can get one plan through Walmart+ and charge the other to The Platinum Card® from American Express to take advantage of the digital entertainment credit. The Platinum Card® from American Express reimburses a Walmart+ membership, which comes with a free subscription to either Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential.

Both Peacock Premium and Paramount+ Essential plans come with ads, but they are free with your Walmart+ membership. If you prefer ad-free plans, it might still be worth using the digital entertainment credit for this.

The specific merchants qualifying for the American Express Digital Entertainment credit vary, typically including major streaming services and digital entertainment platforms. Eligible merchants include Disney+, The Disney+ Bundle, ESPN+, Hulu, Paramount, Peacock, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, YouTube Premium, and YouTube TV. Subscription must be made directly with an eligible merchant, not through a third party like Apple.

This credit can cut the cost of a YouTube TV plan by $30. The base plan for YouTube TV starts at $82.99 a month, so with the digital entertainment credit, you would pay just $52.99. After the first year, The New York Times subscription costs $25 per month, which is exactly the amount covered by the digital entertainment credit.

It's worth noting that both primary cardmembers and authorized users can make purchases to utilise the streaming credit, but each primary account is limited to a credit of just $25 per month. Authorized users do not get their own $25 per month credit.

In conclusion, the Platinum Card® from American Express offers a valuable monthly digital entertainment credit that can significantly reduce the cost of your entertainment subscriptions. With a wide range of eligible merchants, you have plenty of ways to maximise this $300 digital entertainment credit, depending on your entertainment priorities.
