Infinity Intends to Enhance QX80 Sales by Introducing Three Exclusive Showroom Models

The luxury automaker Infiniti is set to introduce three limited edition variants of its flagship SUV, the QX80, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month. The new models, the Track Spec, Terrain Spec, and a SEMA show model, each cater to distinct audiences with unique specifications and design focuses.

First up is the QX80 Track Spec, a performance-oriented variant aimed at enthusiasts. This model boasts a power increase of at least 550 horsepower, surpassing the standard 450-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It features improved brakes, sport-tuned suspension, retuned steering, and air suspension likely adapted from the Nissan Armada NISMO. Exterior enhancements include racier bodywork with a small chin spoiler.

On the other hand, the QX80 Terrain Spec is designed for off-road capability. It offers all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, height-adjustable air suspension, and underbody skid plates. Additional rugged accessories, such as a roof-mounted light bar, storage box, increased ground clearance, and metallic skid plates, draw parallels with the Nissan Armada Pro-4X.

The SEMA show model, while details are limited, traditionally showcases specialized modifications, potentially combining both performance and off-road features or unique styling cues for the show context.

Infiniti considers the tuner variant, the QX80 Track Spec, as a concept that showcases what is possible with the QX80. The company aims to demonstrate the SUV's potential for high-performance tuning, with the Track Spec being as powerful as a GT-R and a QX80 combined. The Terrain Spec, on the other hand, is designed to improve the SUV's off-road capabilities with increased ground clearance, protection plates, and rugged body protection elements.

Both the QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec will be unveiled in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California. The production variant of these models is expected within the next 12 months, with Infiniti potentially manufacturing 500 or 1000 units, depending on customer interest.

These upcoming special editions of the QX80 are primarily intended to increase showroom traffic for the brand, something that has been requested by dealers for a while. The new models are expected to generate excitement and attract a wider audience to Infiniti dealerships.
