Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are disembarking every passenger at a specific station from the train.

Traveling on the German railway can be a nightmare, with constant cancellations and delays driving travelers up the wall. But on a journey from Munich to the north, passengers on this particular trip could have avoided the frustration.

In a bizarre move, staff on an ICE train, traveling from Munich to Hamburg, kicked every passenger off the train after just one station. According to the "Hamburger Abendblatt", the hapless passengers had to disembark in Nuremberg and were only able to continue their journey an hour later, crammed onto an overcrowded train.

The staff's announcement left passengers scratching their heads, thinking it was just another prank a la "Candid Camera". But apparently, this wasn't a joke. The ICE was supposedly too dirty for the staff to continue the journey, as per their announcement. One passenger reported that the train wasn't dirty at all, suggesting it could have done with a simple vacuum.

Piling on the misery, passengers in the subsequent train were so tightly packed in the aisles that reservations became invalid.

A spokesperson for the railway apologized to the newspaper, stating that the aim of the railway is to maintain high-quality standards on long-distance journeys. However, in this instance, the train didn't meet those standards, and the continuation of the journey was deemed impossible by the staff.

If a train is delayed by at least 60 minutes at the destination station, passengers can claim a 25% refund of the fare paid. For delays of 120 minutes or more, the refund increases to 50%. Claims can be made through the DB Navigator app, and in most cases, passengers receive their money within a few days.

Last year, Deutsche Bahn paid its passengers almost 200 million euros in refunds. But this incident seems to be an isolated one.

So, was it a reckless stunt to "make a statement", as some passengers suspected? Only time will tell. For now, travelers on the German railway can only hope for a smoother journey.
