Illegal Christmas Tree Felling in Germany: Fines Up to €100
Illegal felling of Christmas trees is a punishable offence across Germany, with varying fines depending on the federal state. This year, penalties range from 40 to 100 euros for the act alone.
Five states, including Hesse with the highest minimum fine of 100 euros, enforce penalties of at least 50 euros for illegally cutting down a tree. North Rhine-Westphalia has the lowest fine at 40 euros. Incorrectly securing the transport can lead to fines starting from 20 euros, while endangering traffic or causing property damage can result in fines of 60 or 75 euros. In Lower Saxony, the minimum fine is 80 euros. Unsecured transport can incur a 25 euro fine, or 35 euros if the tree falls onto the road. A protruding tree beyond the vehicle's maximum limit can result in a 20 euro fine.
This festive season, Germans are reminded to respect the law when it comes to Christmas trees. Fines for illegal felling and improper transport vary but can reach up to 100 euros. Ensuring trees are securely transported and within vehicle limits helps avoid penalties and maintains road safety.
