Freakin' Sweet! House Greenlights Huge Minimum Wage Boost

It's about time, ya'll! The House of Reps just gave the green light to a fiery proposal that could see a whopping P200 daily increase in the minimum wage for private-sector grunts.

In a packed session on June 4, 2025, the chamber approved the measure by a landslide, with 171 yes votes, a solitary no, and not a single abstention.

Just think, this groundbreaking move will benefit more than five mil greedy greedy minimum wage slaves and their fams, pullin' 'em outta the rat race!

Raymond Democrito Mendoza, y'know, the Trade Union Congress of the Phils party-list rep, was stoked about the historic decision. He reckons this be the first legislated wage hike in 36 years since 1989.

Mendoza said, "This bill's gonna be a head-buster for over five million minimum wage earner bros and their fams, easing 'em outta poverty."

He's now callin' on the Senate and House superiors to assemble the bicameral conference committee posthaste, so they can whip up a final bill that'll make everyone pumped!

Mendoza said, "This time, it ain't about if we pass a legislated wage hike, but how high that hike will be. We workers know that answer: the higher, the better. But, battered betwixt P100 and P200, this'll still be a historic wage jump that no outdated regional wage board could ever dream of matchin'."

Now, back in July 2024, the Senate already okayed a bill proposing a P100 across-the-board minimum wage increase[1][3][4]. The Senate and House will now collab like a symphony, in a bicameral conference, to waffle out their respective versions before submitttin' the final bill to Prez Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for his stamp of approval[1][2][4].

The NWC (National Wages and Productivity Commission) and labor groups are pushin' Congress to speed things up, as the current Congress is likeless to adjourn before June 13, 2025[2]. Mendoza's urgin' the bicameral conferees to get a move on, remindin' 'em that workers' livelihoods hang in the balance[1][4]. Will they manage to speed things up, or will they turn into a bunch of bureaucratic bunglers once again? Stay tuned, my friends!
