Taking down the heat on Hamdard's Rooh Afza: Ramdev's pledge

In a turn of events, Baba Ramdev, the renowned yoga guru, has promised to put an end to his dispute with Hamdard National Foundation India over the latter's popular drink, Rooh Afza. The Delhi High Court has closed the lawsuit following Ramdev's commitment.

The legal battle ensued after Ramdev's controversial remarks during the promotion of Patanjali's "gulab sharbat." He alleged that funds from Hamdard's Rooh Afza were used to construct madrasas and mosques, a claim Hamdard found unacceptable.

The court, stunned by Ramdev's initial remarks, had warned of contempt action and pressed for the immediate removal of the questionable content [1][3]. Ramdev, in good faith, assented and took down the offensive videos and posts [4].

However, during a subsequent hearing on May 1, Hamdard pointed out that Ramdev repeated his remarks in another video, refusing to show remorse. Faced with the court's reprimand, Ramdem agreed to remove the offending portions in 24 hours.

On May 2, both Ramdev and Patanjali promised to refrain from making any further statements about Hamdard's Rooh Afza in future and sought to close the lawsuit [4]. The court has now closed the lawsuit based on their undertakings, ensuring the controversy surrounding Rooh Afza will finally simmer down [2].
