HHLA Reports Strong Half-Year Results Amidst Management Changes

Hamburg-based logistics company HHLA has announced its half-year results for 2025, showcasing significant growth in revenue, profit, and container throughput. The results were presented today at 7:30 AM.

The consolidated revenue rose by 16.3% to €884.5 million, while operating profit (EBIT) increased by 34.8% to €79.4 million. The company saw a 7.9% increase in container throughput, largely due to trade with China and growth at international terminals including those in Italy and Odessa.

These impressive figures come amidst a period of management changes at HHLA. Rüdiger Grube, the supervisory board chairman, announced his departure by the end of the year. Angela Titzrath, the CEO, who has been at the helm for nine years, announced her departure in June. Titzrath will be succeeded by Jeroen Eijsink, formerly of Deutsche Post DHL.

The management changes come as MSC, the world’s largest shipping company, acquired a stake in HHLA about two years ago, marking a major strategic investment. MSC committed to expanding cargo volumes through Hamburg, a move that Titzrath reportedly approached with caution.

Shareholder representatives have criticised some of the moves made by Angela Titzrath, including a dividend cut. However, the exact details of HHLA’s half-year results for 2022 were not found in the sources, and further archival or specialized financial reports would be needed for detailed 2022 data.

HHLA is a majority-owned state company that transports goods across Europe by train and truck. In addition to operating terminals in the Hamburg port, HHLA also operates terminals abroad.
