HELROM Launches Block Train Service, Slashing Road Traffic and CO2 Emissions
A new block train service has launched between Regensburg and Lébény, significantly reducing road traffic and CO2 emissions. The service, operated by HELROM, uses its patented Helrom Trailer Wagon, allowing barrier-free loading of trailers from road to rail and back.
The train consists of 18 wagons, carrying 36 trailers and the equivalent of 72 trucks' worth of cargo. This not only eases road congestion but also contributes to environmental sustainability. HELROM, the manufacturer of the innovative wagon, estimates that this service can save up to 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Audi, a key player in the supply chain, welcomes this development. Dieter Braun, head of supply chain at Audi, emphasizes the importance of 'consistent decarbonisation' in their logistics processes. The company is actively pursuing a holistic approach to integrate climate-friendly solutions from partners like HELROM, aiming to optimise logistics between suppliers and plants.
The new block train service between Regensburg and Lébény, powered by HELROM's patented wagon, is set to make a substantial impact on reducing road traffic and CO2 emissions. Audi, a major beneficiary, sees this as a significant step towards its decarbonisation goals in the supply chain.
