Greece to Send 60 Howitzers and Ammunition to Ukraine in €199M Aid Package

Greece is set to provide a substantial aid package to Ukraine, valued at over 199 million euros. The package includes heavy artillery systems and ammunition, with the Greek government's final approval pending.

At the core of this aid are 60 M110A2 203mm self-propelled howitzers, deemed 'non-operational necessary' in Greece and drawn from reserves. These howitzers, along with around 150,000 rounds of ammunition, will bolster Ukraine's artillery capabilities.

The ammunition consists of various types, including M106, M650 HERA, M404 ICM, and M509A1 DPICM with dual-purpose submunitions. Additionally, thousands of 70mm and 127mm (Zuni type) rockets will be included. Each of the howitzer's shells can weigh over 100 kg and has a firing range of up to 30 km using HERA reactive shells.

The Greek military establishment assures that this export will not compromise Greece's defense capabilities. Funds will be allocated for modernization and replenishment of arsenals. The final decision on the transfer rests with the KYSEA government commission, chaired by the Greek Prime Minister.
