Sunil J. Singhi, a seasoned professional with a rich background in policy-making, business leadership, and community empowerment, has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) board.

The appointment is noteworthy, given Singhi's extensive experience and current roles. He has been a vocal advocate for the rights and welfare of small retailers, distributors, and unorganised workers, making him an ideal choice to help ONDC achieve its vision of fostering an inclusive, open, and equitable digital commerce environment across the country.

Singhi's career spans across various sectors, with a deep-rooted association with India's trading communities. He previously held the positions of Vice Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation and Chairman of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board. In these roles, he enabled welfare access to over 50,000 businesses and industries.

Singhi's commitment to the welfare of underserved regions is evident in his work on large-scale educational, livelihood, skill development, and welfare schemes. His dedication to the cause extends to his current position as the Chairman of the National Traders' Welfare Board.

The release announcing Singhi's appointment notes that his expertise will be valuable in achieving ONDC's goals. Singhi's extensive experience in policy-making and community empowerment, coupled with his advocacy for the rights of small retailers and unorganised workers, makes him an asset to the ONDC board.

In addition to his work in government, Singhi has also been involved in community-led initiatives. He was the first Jain representative on the National Commission for Minorities, Government of India, and previously served as a Director at FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Limited.

ONDC's mission to transform the lives of workers and traders, particularly in underserved regions, aligns closely with Singhi's personal and professional goals. His appointment is expected to further ONDC's vision of creating a digital commerce ecosystem that is open, equitable, and accessible to all.
