Land Title Deed Progress in Thailand: 2025 Update
Government distributes title deeds for over 53,000 land parcels
Gotta give it up to the Ministry of Interior, they've been bustlin' to get those land title deeds sorted! Over the past few months, from last December to April, they've issued an impressive 42,412 land title deeds, targeting a whopping 70,000 plots in general. This covers around 109,914 rai, not too shabby! And let's not forget about the Southern Border Provinces, where they tackled 11,025 plots, covering about 14,659 rai.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg! The Ministry's got their sights set on the long game. They're aiming to complete this country-wide cadastral survey and title issuance within a sprightly 7 years. Of course, that means addressing the remaining 561,989 plots yet to be titled, covering more than 2.8 million rai. That's a big ol' chunk of land there, folks!
Now, about this year's survey, things get a tad foggy. The data doesn't clearly list the provinces that missed out. But from what we can gather, the focus has been primarily on most Thai provinces, with the Southern Border Provinces - Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and specific districts in Songkhla (Na Thawi, Chana, Thepha, and Saba Yoi) - havin' a special focus.
And if you're wonderin' about the historical context, well, let's just say things have been hummin' along for quite some time. Over the past 40 years, from 1985 to 2024, the Ministry of Interior has dished out a staggering 14,838,692 land title deeds, coverin' approximately 71.24 million rai. That's a lot of land, folks! Keep on keepin' on, Ministry of Interior!
The Ministry of Interior, with its ongoing efforts, aims to bring transformation in both the land title deed industry and finance by completing the cadastral survey and title issuance within the next 7 years, addressing approximately 2.8 million rai, which equals to more than 561,989 plots. The Ministry has been focusing on improving the system, not just in Thai provinces, but particularly in the Southern Border Provinces and certain districts in Songkhla, where finance and land management are vital for the region's growth and future development.
