Göttingen's 'Energy Region' Wins 15,000 Euros for Renewable Energy Transition
Göttingen's 'Energy Region' project, a collaborative effort to transition the city and district's energy supply to renewable sources, has been recognised for its exceptional climate change initiatives. The project, involving the city administration, local district, energy providers, and city works, aims to shape the regional energy supply together with municipal partners.
The project, awarded 15,000 euros in the 'Climate municipal' competition, seeks to transform the regional energy landscape. It brings together the city of Göttingen, the district of Göttingen, EAM Natur Energie, and the city works of Göttingen. While the founding members of the Energy Region Göttingen society remain unclear, the project demonstrates the potential for successful energy transition through public-private cooperation.
The city administration supports the project by providing updates via Telegram and Notify, and offering Verwalti, a digital guide to assist residents with simple queries and direct them to the right contact person. The primary goal is to empower municipal partners to shape their regional energy supply.
The 'Energy Region Göttingen' project stands out as a model for effective climate change protection, having been recognised for its exemplary efforts. Through collaboration between public and private entities, the project seeks to switch the regional energy supply to renewable sources, demonstrating how energy transition can succeed locally.
