Food Distribution Company Pastore's Italian Wholesale has been acquired by Salav Foods.

In a significant move within the food distribution sector, Saval Foods LLC has announced the acquisition of Pastore's Italian Wholesale Distributor. This strategic move is expected to broaden Saval's market reach, diversify product offerings, and strengthen their position in the Italian specialty food market.

The acquisition aims to position Sun of Italy, Pastore's specialty brand, for meaningful growth in product variety and market reach. Pastore's, founded in 1898, has built a reputation for supplying premium Italian products to retail customers and local delis. The Sun of Italy brand, launched in 1982, has been admired for its time-tested quality, community connection, and commitment to tradition.

The addition of the Pastore's team, including Mike Pastore Jr., who is joining Saval Foodservice as business development director for Sun of Italy, is expected to ensure a smooth transition without loss of momentum. Mike Pastore Sr., owner of Pastore's, is proud that Saval Foods is interested in building on the Sun of Italy brand, and he grew up near Saval Foods.

Saval Foods, founded in 1932, has three key divisions: Saval Foodservice, Deli Brands of America, and 1932 Specialty Produce & Meat. Saval Foodservice delivers quality ingredients, culinary solutions, and personalized service to restaurants, hospitality groups, and institutional kitchens across a regional market. 1932 Specialty Produce & Meat provides fresh produce and fresh-cut meat solutions to restaurants and institutions. Deli Brands of America, Saval's manufacturing division, produces premium deli meats and proteins sold nationwide.

The acquisition is also expected to provide restaurant operators greater access to Italian specialty products. Pastore's dedication to quality and service aligns closely with Saval's own values.

While the exact expansion strategy of Saval Foods LLC post-acquisition is not explicitly confirmed, industry practice suggests that the company may expand distribution to new regional and national markets, integrate and cross-market Sun of Italy products with Saval’s existing portfolio, enhance supply chain efficiencies through operational consolidation, and invest in brand development and customer engagement to increase market share.

However, for detailed information or official statements about Saval Foods LLC’s post-acquisition strategy, direct sources such as company press releases, industry reports, or interviews with company executives would be necessary to consult.

In other news, Lipari Foods has appointed Shaun Bunch as its Chief Supply Chain Officer. This appointment comes as Lipari Foods continues to expand its operations and strengthen its position in the specialty food market.

Saval Foods looks forward to having the Pastore's team and Mike Pastore Jr. join the Saval family, and the company is excited about the opportunities this acquisition presents for both businesses.

The acquisition by Saval Foods LLC is anticipated to broaden the supply chain of Italian specialty products to restaurants, aligning with Lipari Foods' ongoing expansion in the specialty food market. With Mike Pastore Jr. joining Saval Foodservice as business development director for Sun of Italy, the fusion of financial resources is expected to facilitate growth in product variety and market reach.
