Filipino Wealth's Journey Ahead: BPI's Groundbreaking Strategies and the Female Leader Steering the Course

BPI Wealth Expands Reach and Embraces Sustainability

BPI Wealth, a leading wealth management institution, is making significant strides in digital innovation, international expansion, and sustainability initiatives under the leadership of Maria Theresa Marcial.

In a bid to cater to a wider audience, BPI Wealth will open its third overseas office in Singapore by October 2025. This office, located in the Marina Bay Financial Centre, aims to target high-net-worth Filipinos across the ASEAN region. This move follows earlier expansions in Hong Kong and London, reinforcing BPI Wealth's vision of becoming a truly regional player.

Under Marcial's leadership, BPI Wealth has also launched digital Portfolio Management Accounts (PMAs) with a minimum investment of P500,000. These accounts allow clients to invest in Treasury bills, preferred shares, and corporate bonds online, all while enjoying the guidance of a dedicated advisor. This digital innovation has contributed to BPI Wealth recently crossing over P1 billion in assets under management.

On the sustainability front, BPI Wealth is pursuing strategic sustainability bonds and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) alignment as part of its long-term investment strategy. The bank is also working to finalize a blue bond framework within 2025 to support sustainable finance initiatives. This reflects a broader commitment to climate and environmental concerns.

Maria Theresa Marcial, a Harvard-trained banker with 28 years of experience in banking, mirrors her sailing philosophy in her leadership style: "Know your crew, read the winds, and always steer with purpose." Her mantra is "Wealth management should be a tool for empowerment, not exclusion."

Marcial, an outdoor enthusiast and a certified skipper with over 8,000 nautical miles logged in races across various locations, has been recognized as one of Asia's Top 25 Most Influential Women in Asset Management by Asian Investor magazine. She holds a Master's degree in Economics from UP Diliman and a Bachelor's degree (cum laude) from UP Los Baos.

Marcial's vision is to make BPI Wealth the most accessible asset manager in the industry, aiming to build a future where every Filipino can do more, save more, and live more. With her guidance, BPI Wealth continues to expand its reach, both digitally and internationally.
