Russian authorities have decided to allocate an extra 7.6 billion rubles for road maintenance in newly identified areas. This decision, which has been officially announced by the government's press service, was finalized by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Federal authorities to invest 7.6 billion in the renovation of roads across untapped territories

The Russian government has announced that it will allocate 7.6 billion rubles to the budgets of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. According to the press release, the distribution of funds will be as follows: 4.2 billion rubles for the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), 1.8 billion rubles for the Kherson region, 1.25 billion rubles for the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), and 360 million rubles for the Zaporizhzhia region.

The funding is part of a state program aimed at restoring and developing the socio-economic conditions in these regions. As a result, over 240 kilometers of roads are anticipated to be restored to normal condition, the cabinet assured.

In April 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated that the repair of 21,000 kilometers of roads in the newly annexed regions should be completed over a period of three years, accounting for half of the total road network length in these regions.

Specific details regarding the current status of road repair projects and the exact allocation of federal funds remain unclear. However, Russia has been active in various infrastructure projects within these occupied territories. For instance, it has been working towards connecting the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to the Russian power grid by laying powerlines in the region.

For more information on Russian state programs and funding for these regions, one may consult official Russian government sources or reports. However, such information is not easily accessible at present. In contrast, Ukraine has secured significant funding for infrastructure repair, with $432 million from the World Bank allocated for the restoration of transport infrastructure in 19 regions. This funding is part of a broader effort to rebuild and recover from the war, but it does not include areas under Russian control, such as the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

The allocation of funds for the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, is part of a larger state program focusing on finance, business, and general-news sectors, aimed at restoring and developing the socio-economic conditions in these regions. In addition, political agendas are likely involved in the funding distribution, considering the ongoing tensions in these regions.
