Nishimura & Asahi Expands London Team with Shingo Ito's Return

Nishimura & Asahi, a leading Japanese law firm, has strengthened its London office with the return of Shingo Ito as a partner. Ito, a solicitor qualified in England and Wales, has extensive experience in advising Japanese clients on cross-border transactions, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and real estate transactions.

Ito began his career with Nishimura & Asahi in Tokyo in 2008. After a decade at international firms, he returned to Nishimura & Asahi this year, joining Yoshiyuki Kizu and Timothy Merchant as partners in the London office.

Ito's unique experience in both Tokyo and London will continue to support Japanese clients on a wide range of corporate transactions. His expertise in banking and finance, as well as his understanding of the UK market, will be invaluable in navigating the complexities of cross-border legal matters.

Nishimura & Asahi's London office was launched earlier this year, adding to the firm's existing European outposts in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. The expansion of the London office further strengthens the firm's ability to provide on-the-ground support to Japanese businesses pursuing opportunities across Europe.

Ito's return to Nishimura & Asahi follows a successful stint at Bird & Bird, where he served as legal director. Prior to that, he gained extensive experience advising Japanese clients on cross-border transactions at Ashurst.

Ito's expertise in real estate and renewable energy investments by Japanese businesses is particularly noteworthy. His experience in structuring, debt financing, and restructuring will be a valuable asset to the firm and its clients.

With Ito's return, Nishimura & Asahi's London office now boasts a team of three partners, ready to provide top-tier legal services to Japanese clients in the UK and beyond.

  1. Shingo Ito's expertise in mergers and acquisitions, complemented by his understanding of the UK market, will be instrumental in advising Japanese clients on complex finance-related matters.
  2. As a solicitor qualified in England and Wales, Shingo Ito's experience in cross-border joint ventures and real estate transactions is not limited to the energy sector, but extends to various industries.
  3. In addition to the growth of Nishimura & Asahi's London office, Ito's return and expertise in renewable energy investments will further bolster the firm's ability to support Japanese businesses in the energy industry with top-tier legal services.
