Canadian bulk hauler Trimac Transportation is significantly growing its flatbed, LTL (less-than-truckload), and heavy-haul services through recent acquisitions. On August 7, 2025, Trimac acquired Searcy Trucking, a major open deck carrier based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Searcy Trucking operates a fleet of over 120 trucks and 170 trailers, with specialized equipment including one of the largest private fleets of Removable Goose Neck trailers in Western Canada. The company provides services to the construction, agriculture, and manufacturing industries, offering transloading, warehousing with 20,000 sq ft indoor storage, direct rail access, heated and dry storage, and logistics management through its Universal Reload division.

Trimac, headquartered in Calgary and operating since 1945, now employs over 3,400 people across 140+ branches in North America. The combined entities expand its service offering and geographical reach, especially in flatbed and heavy haul segments.

The acquisition of Searcy Trucking follows Trimac's acquisition of flatbed carrier Watt & Stewart in January 2025, which enhanced its footprint in mining, forestry, and heavy equipment transportation sectors. The financial terms of both transactions were not disclosed.

Trimac's president and CEO, Matt Faure, stated that these acquisitions are intended to create more value for customers and expand possibilities for teams across North America. Norm Blagden, president of Searcy Trucking, echoed this sentiment, saying that becoming part of Trimac is the right next step for the company's employees, customers, and the future of specialized transportation.

The deal between Trimac Transportation and Searcy Trucking closed last week. Searcy Trucking will continue to operate under its current banner, with its leadership team remaining in place. The article does not provide any specific timeline for the Watt & Stewart acquisition.

With these acquisitions, Trimac Transportation is positioning itself as a leading provider in flatdeck, heavy haul, and specialized transportation services across Western Canada and the U.S. Midwest.
