Transport and Logistics Center in Minsk, Belarus, Resumes Timber Export to China

After a comprehensive renovation, the Minsk-Beltamozhservis-2 transport and logistics center has recommenced operations. The first container train carrying timber destined for China via St. Petersburg marked the resumption of full operations at the facility.

According to Beltamozhservis, following the reconstruction of access tracks and the container platform, the center is now functioning at full capacity. The renovation has enhanced the center's ability to accommodate longer container trains of up to 57 units.

On Thursday, May 22, the first freight train departed from the terminal, carrying 62 forty-foot containers of timber bound for St. Petersburg, from where they will be shipped to Shanghai's Chinese port.

Beltamozhservis stated that the enterprise has been actively increasing its cargo transportation along the Belarus-China-Belarus route in recent years. The extended container storage area at the facility now allows for the simultaneous handling of multiple trains, ensuring uninterrupted operations for both the terminal and exporting companies.

For over a decade, Belarus has been expanding timber exports to China, with Minsk-Beltamozhservis-2 playing a crucial role in the logistics of these shipments. The center manages large consignments of logs, lumber, plywood, and other processed wood products, benefitting from the growing demand from China's construction and manufacturing sectors.

Positioned strategically as a key node on the Eurasian trade routes, Minsk-Beltamozhservis-2 serves as a critical hub for facilitating export-import operations, offering custom services, warehousing, and multimodal transportation. The center's focus on timber export products, coupled with the investments in infrastructure upgrades, increased throughput capacity, and advanced logistics management systems, is expected to solidify its significance in the industry.

The renovation of the Minsk-Beltamozhservis-2 transport and logistics center has not only increased its handling capacity but also enabled it to accommodate longer container trains of up to 57 units in the industry. With the resumed timber export to China, the center in Minsk, Belarus, is now firmly positioning itself as a key player in the global finance sector, given the growing demand from China's construction and manufacturing sectors.
