Agathe Demarais, a renowned expert in the field of geoeconomics and technology, is making waves in the international arena. Currently, she serves as the head of research activities on geoeconomics and technology at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).

Demarais brings a wealth of experience to her role at ECFR. Prior to joining the organisation, she was the Global Forecasting Director at The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), where she led economic and geopolitical analysis, focusing on commercial developments, emerging markets, and economic statecraft.

Before her tenure at the EIU, Demarais worked as an economic policy advisor to the French Treasury's diplomatic corps in Russia and Lebanon. This experience provided her with a unique insight into the complexities of international economic relations, particularly in emerging markets.

In addition to her work at ECFR, Demarais is an editorialist for Foreign Policy and a visiting professor at the prestigious College of Europe. She is also the author of the book Backfire, which delves into the global effects of sanctions and export controls.

The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) is not Demarais' only partner. The Secretary of State for the European Union and the initiative "Hablamos de Europa" (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Europe, and Cooperation of Spain) are also associated with the organisation.

Demarais' work outside of ECFR is supported by the European Council on Foreign Relations. This support enables her to continue her research and contribute valuable insights to the understanding of geoeconomics and technology in the global context.

Prior to her current career, Demarais also worked in investment banking in Russia and the United States. This experience has undoubtedly contributed to her comprehensive understanding of the global economy and its intricacies.
