EU Delegation Visits Kazakhstan to Boost Strategic Ties
A high-level delegation from the European Union (EU) visited Kazakhstan this week, aiming to strengthen strategic dialogues between the two parties. The visit, which took place in Aktau and Astana, focused on various aspects of cooperation, including trade, sustainability, and infrastructure development.
The EU delegation, led by the Council of the European Union's COEST working group, began their trip in Aktau. Here, they familiarised themselves with the region's economic and scientific potential. They also visited the Kazakh-German Institute for Sustainable Engineering (KINI) at the Jessenov University, underscoring their commitment to sustainability and ecological transformation.
In Astana, the delegation held discussions with Kazakh officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko. They explored areas of mutual interest such as trade and investment, sustainability, rule of law, climate and water issues, and the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Vassilenko emphasised the EU's significance as Kazakhstan's main trade and investment partner.
The EU-Kazakhstan partnership continues to grow, with this visit marking a step towards the practical implementation of their expanded cooperation agreement. Both sides share central values and are committed to working together on key areas, including sustainability, rule of law, and infrastructure development.
