Entrepreneur Sentenced to 3 Years for Wage Theft

A 51-year-old entrepreneur from Halle (Saale), holding Serbian and Bosnian citizenship, has been sentenced to a total prison term of three years and eight months. The final judgment was passed on 30.04.2025.

The entrepreneur, who was not the owner of the construction company but fully authorized to manage its affairs, committed 33 offenses of withholding and embezzling wages. Between March 2017 and January 2020, the entrepreneur employed workers whose wages were paid in cash and were not registered for social security.

During this period, a total of almost 1.12 million euros in gross wages were paid, with around 405,000 euros in social security contributions withheld. The entrepreneur confessed to these crimes during the main hearing and was provisionally arrested in Montenegro before being extradited.

The entrepreneur's actions have resulted in a significant prison sentence. The court's decision sends a clear message about the seriousness of such offenses.
