Entrepreneur Arrested for 2nd Time Over 170k Euros in Social Security Fraud

Entrepreneur Arrested for 2nd Time Over 170k Euros in Social Security Fraud

Customs are probing 24 cases of wage withholding and misappropriation, along with 40 instances of fraudulent business practices. A 65-year-old construction entrepreneur from the Rhein-Neckar district was arrested on 02.09.2025 for failing to pay social security contributions and making false statements to the holiday and wage compensation fund (ULAK).

The entrepreneur, who has a history of similar offenses from 2016 to 2021 resulting in over 219,000 euros in damages, employed workers on a large scale from 2020 to 2023 without paying their social security contributions. This time, the total damage amounts to approximately 98,600 euros in unpaid social security contributions and 71,600 euros not paid to the ULAK.

An arrest warrant was issued due to the risk of repetition. The entrepreneur made incorrect and incomplete statements to the ULAK regarding the wages paid. He was arrested and taken to a detention facility, then presented to the investigating judge of the Heidelberg Local Court. Investigations are ongoing.

The 65-year-old entrepreneur faces charges of not paying social security contributions and making false statements to the ULAK. The total damage amounts to nearly 170,000 euros. Despite previous investigations, the entrepreneur continues to engage in similar offenses, leading to his recent arrest.
