Enhancing Traffic Flow and Reducing Travel Duration: RTA Debuts New Al Warqa Accessway
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that a new entry and exit point to Al Warqa will open from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early next week. This move is anticipated to dramatically improve traffic flow and cut down commute times in the area.
The new access point is projected to manage an additional 5,000 vehicles per hour, potentially reducing travel time by as much as 80%. This means a journey that currently takes around 20 minutes will be cut down to just 3.5 minutes, with the distance shortening from 5.7 kilometers to 1.5 kilometers.
This development is part of a larger infrastructure undertaking aimed at boosting connectivity and mobility within the Al Warqa district. Other recent enhancements include traffic improvements on Street 13 in Al Warqa 1, a key component of an 8-kilometer internal road development plan. These changes aim to benefit daily commuters, school zones, and overall traffic efficiency, aligning with Dubai's broader urban planning goals.
In addition to the new entry and exit point, RTA has also extended pedestrian walkways, paved roads, created more parking spaces, and implemented over 23 kilometers of cycling tracks in Al Warqa 3 and 4. The intention behind these improvements is to encourage sustainable mobility and last-mile connectivity.
Further developments include converting existing roundabouts in Al Warqa 1 into smart signalized junctions. This transformation is expected to boost traffic flow by up to 30% by the end of the year.
