Beer Baptism for the Lusatia's Whizzing Wonder: "Cottbus" - the Reborn ICE 4

Hang around with the cool kids of Lusatia: Meet the revamped ICE 4 of German Rail (DB), now christened Cottbus. In the heart of Cottbus, the new train workshop, this flashy high-speed locomotive was adorned with a crown of cold Spreewald pickle juice. The train's coat of arms shares gleaming space alongside the city's name.
Making a station stop nowhere near Cottbus, the ICE spent three villainous weeks in the workshop for some TLC, as announced by the company. But securing a name change? Now that's the mother of all upgrades! "Having one of this new generation's trains sport the name 'Cottbus/Chóśebuz' gives us hopes that maybe, just maybe, in the future, the ICE trains will grace our fair city's tracks," said Mayor Tobias Schick (SPD). Brandenburg's Minister-President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) joined the party and revealed the shiny new nameplate.
This bad boy ain't just any ol' ICE 4. It's the heart throb of the DB fleet. According to DB's digitalization and technology guru, Daniela Gerd tom Markotten, "A train of this new generation being dubbed 'Cottbus/Chóśebuz' represents the triumphant economic facelift in the Lusatia region." Since all 137 ICE 4 DB drifters get their maintenance done in Lusatia, it's like taking your car to the Tony Stark of automotive hackers.
While there previously twirled through the land an ICE 2 with the name Cottbus til September 2024, this heavy metal canon icon from the '80s has now been replaced by this sleeker, swankier model.
DB opened a colossal ICE fix-it shop in the city back in January 2024, and they're in the process of constructing a second workshop hall, due for completion by the end of 2026.
Woidke's been rallying for more train tracks in Bran'burg, lusting after expansion in the rail transport scene with the fed gov. According to his manifesto, the Lübbenau-Cottbus route requires an urgent double-track expansion to be unleashed as planned in 2027.
