Emirates NBD & Nium Revolutionize Cross-Border Payments in MENAT
Emirates NBD and Nium have expanded their strategic partnership, now offering real-time international transfers across the entire Emirates NBD Group in the UAE. The collaboration, initially announced in 2024, is set to revolutionize cross-border payments in the region.
The partnership has enabled Emirates NBD customers to enjoy seamless, cost-effective, and reliable international transfers. Yousuf Saeed Mohd, Group Head of Priority and Personal Banking and Retail Banking Sales at Emirates NBD, praised the collaboration, stating their commitment to leading cross-border payments in the region.
Nium's white paper highlights the Middle East's increasing reliance on strategic collaborations between banks and Fintechs for efficiency, inclusion, and growth. The UAE, one of the world's largest remittance hubs with outbound flows exceeding $50 billion in 2023, stands to benefit significantly from this development.
Anupam Pahuja, Chief Revenue Officer at Nium, confirmed the partnership has scaled to enable real-time money movement from the Middle East to the world. The update is being live from Sibos 2025 in Frankfurt, where Nium is showcasing the latest developments in its global payment's infrastructure.
With the service now available across the entire Emirates NBD Group in the UAE and plans to expand to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Emirates NBD KSA, the partnership embodies a vision for innovation and harmonized regulation across MENAT. The collaboration between Emirates NBD and Nium continues to make significant progress, paving the way for a more efficient and inclusive financial landscape in the region.
