Emerges from secrecy, Hush Security secures $11 million funding to put an end to the traditional use of vaults
In a significant development for the cybersecurity landscape, Hush Security, a secretless, policy-based access platform, has secured $11 million in seed funding. This funding round, led by Battery Ventures and YL Ventures, marks a pivotal moment in the industry, signalling the beginning of the end for credential-based attacks.
Hush Security's innovative system unifies security, DevOps, and developer workflows into a single model. It is built on the SPIFFE standard (Secure Production Identity Framework For Everyone) and operates in stealth, already boasting multiple Fortune 500 companies as early customers.
The company, led by the team behind Meta Networks, has identified the limitations of secret-based models and is shifting towards a future where access is as temporary and adaptive as the workloads it secures. By enforcing dynamic policies at runtime, Hush Security aims to provide a more resilient model of digital trust, especially as AI agents proliferate and infrastructure becomes increasingly dynamic.
Hush Security's architecture is grounded in Zero Trust principles, with access tied to behaviour and identity rather than static credentials. After the task is complete, the access disappears, eliminating the need for long-lived credentials. This novel approach eliminates the operational and security risks associated with traditional vaults and secrets managers.
To further aid businesses in transitioning to this new model, Hush Security offers a free assessment tool. This tool identifies embedded secrets, maps their use across code and runtime, and lays out a clear path towards secretless infrastructure.
The launch of Hush Security arrives at a critical inflection point, as agentic AI and ephemeral workloads are becoming fundamental to enterprise operations. In this new landscape, vaults and static secrets pose more risk than protection, making Hush Security's just-in-time, policy-driven access controls enforced at runtime a promising solution.
The funding will accelerate engineering growth and global go-to-market efforts, ensuring that Hush Security continues to lead the charge towards a more adaptive, resilient model of digital trust. As we move towards a future where workloads are as dynamic as the access they require, Hush Security is at the forefront, offering a more secure and efficient way to manage access in the digital age.
