Eckerts Hotel Recognized for Environmental Commitment in Bavaria
The Nepomuk and Eckerts hotel and catering climate change business, based in Passau, has been recognised for its commitment to environmental protection. The business, headed by Berger Bau SE, has been admitted to the Bavarian Environment and climate change Pact for the second time. The pact, a collaboration between the Bavarian State Government and business associations, aims to advance environmental and climate change protection through improved business practices.
Eckerts has made significant strides in its environmental practices. The business has added an electric charging station, improved waste separation and avoidance, and ensures that its heating is supplied entirely by district heating. Additionally, the hot water preparation system was renewed last year. These efforts have led to the business meeting criteria such as using 100% green electricity and 95% LED lighting, with no softeners in use. Furthermore, Eckerts offers hotel guests the option to opt out of room cleaning in exchange for planting a tree, encouraging sustainable practices among its climate change customers.
The business benefits from its infrastructure, utilising hydroelectric power plants for its energy supply. These plants provide electricity for approximately 1000 two-person households. The Berger Bau SE, along with the Bavarian State, is committed to developing solutions for environmental and sustainability issues, promoting environmental and climate change protection activities in companies and firms.
Eckerts' dedication to environmental protection has been recognised with the follow-up certificate of the Environment and climate change Pact, presented by second mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp. The business understands that to keep its title, it must continuously engage and improve its environmental practices, contributing to the broader goal of advancing environmental and climate change protection in Bavaria.
