Drivers disregard detour, opt for lane travel amidst increased chaos

Lautlingen, Germany — The ongoing road surface renovation works in Lautlingen have extended the two-way local detour on the B463, with the detour now expected to last until mid-September. The detour route, originally intended for oncoming traffic, is now being used by cars as well due to increased traffic caused by federal road traffic.

The detour route, which extends from the Lautlingen B463 branch, through Eschachstraße and Von-Stauffenberg-Straße, to the intersection of Ebingertalstraße/Falkenstraße, was initially intended for a smaller portion of traffic. However, the temporary bridge over the Eyach, originally intended for traffic from the western edge of Albstadt-Lautlingen and Albstadt-Laufen only, is now being used by a larger portion of traffic.

The temporary bridge over the Eyach, currently open to traffic in both directions, connects Albstadt-Laufen and Balingen-Dürrwangen, bypassing the closed section of the B463 between Lautlingen-West and Balingen. This has relieved some of the traffic congestion in the area, although traffic jams are still occurring on Falkenstraße in Albstadt-Lautlingen, heading towards Albstadt-Ebingen.

Non-delivery trucks are closed off on the detour route, making it legally permissible for cars to use it. Residents in Margrethausen, Pfeffingen, Zillhausen, Stockenhausen, and Dürrwangen may be experiencing less traffic due to a significant portion of federal road traffic heading towards Balingen now using the detour route.

André Nagel, spokesperson for the Tübingen government presidency, has stated that the entire B463 should be accessible again after the completion of the road surface renovation works in Lautlingen, which are planned to be completed by the end of October 2025, weather permitting.

Drivers in Lautlingen who wish to avoid the detour can take a long detour via many 30 km/h zones to Balingen-Dürrwangen. The traffic sign at the entrance to the Eschachstraße indicates that the route is closed only for trucks not making deliveries.

The local detour is causing some inconvenience, but the town is working to complete the renovation works as soon as possible. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and to follow the traffic signs to ensure a safe and efficient route.

The detour route, which bypasses the closed section of the B463, is now being used by a larger portion of traffic from various regions, including Margrethausen, Pfeffingen, Zillhausen, Stockenhausen, and Dulmbach, due to the industry of transportation. The temporary bridge over the Eyach, serving as a connection between Albstadt-Laufen and Balingen-Dürrwangen, is also affecting the finance sector, as non-delivery trucks are closed off on this detour route.
