Insightful Banter:**
Lau's exit has been part of a stormy sea of leadership reshuffles and executive changes at Dollar General in the recent past. Before landing the chief strategy officer gig, Lau held the position of the retailer's Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Strategy.

Speaking of stormy seas, in June of the previous year, Dollar General set sail by naming 11 new commanders, including appointing some swashbuckling Senior Vice Presidents to manage the ship's Real Estate, Private Label, and Distribution departments. In the same breath, the company also roped in eight new Lieutenants, who took charge of Distribution, Store Operations, Merchandising, Human Resources, and Information Technology.
New blood was pumped into the company last fall with the appointment of Jeff Owen as CEO, following the retirement of Chief Executive Todd Vasos. Waves of change continued to roll in, as the company boosted its Senior Vice President of Finance to the lofty position of CFO by April of this year. A month later, the company cooked up a new dish – the Executive Vice President of Growth and Emerging Markets.
Fancy titles continued to be dished out in June, with the promotion of Chad Fox to the rank of Chief Marketing Officer and the recruitment of Smriti Maheshwari, a Lowe's veteran, as Vice President of Inventory and Demand Management at Zaxby's.
At Zaxby's, Lau will be juggling financial strategy, planning, and analytics, as well as taking care of accounting and treasury duties. Before putting on the Zaxby's apron, Lau honed his leadership skills at Yum! Brands.
