Disruption resolved: major ease in regulations impacting Munich's underground rail network (S-Bahn)
On September, 17, 2025, a signal malfunction is expected to cause significant disruptions in the entire S-Bahn network in Munich. Passengers can expect delays, detours, and cancellations during this period. Deutsche Bahn has set up a replacement concept to minimise the impact of these disruptions.
Several lines in the S-Bahn network will only be partially or not at all in regular operation on September 17, 2025. For instance, the S1 will only run between Moosach and Freising/Flughafen, while the S5 will only run between Kreuzstraße and Ostbahnhof.
Alternatives with U-Bahn, bus, and tram are available for passengers during the disruptions. Some of the alternatives include Tram 16, Tram 17, Tram 18, Tram 19, Tram 20, Tram 21 (two different routes), Tram 25 (two different routes), U5, and Bus 57/130/157.
